What makes Whistler different
No Federal Ban
The Prohibition on Non-Canadian Residential Property applies to Census Metropolitan Areas. Whistler doesn't qualify. You can buy here without restriction.
No 20% Foreign Buyer Tax
BC's additional property transfer tax applies to Metro Vancouver, Fraser Valley, and a few other regions. Whistler isn't on that list. You pay the same rates as Canadians.
No Speculation Tax
Whistler is exempt from BC's Speculation and Vacancy Tax. Use your property when you want, leave it empty when you don't—no annual penalties.
No Underused Housing Tax (Eliminated 2025)
The federal UHT was eliminated in the 2025 budget. No more 1% annual tax. No more filing requirements going forward.
